hey everyone,
Ok, so i decided that i want to start a band. This will be like my 5th attempt at trying to find people that actually know what good music is. If you know me, then you know that all i can listen to is death metal/hardcore/grindcore or any combination of that.
In other words, it needs to be really heavy, loud, fast, and still make a lil bit of sense. Im tired of trying to talk to people and they ask, "so what kind of music do u listen to?" and i say "oh, like really heavy stuff. ya kno, death metal and such." and they respond, "what, like slipknot??", that is when i will turn around and pretend that i never saw you before. You might as well have just smacked me in the face.

I know that deathcore and hardcore and whatnot is not very mainstream, and i do totally understand that many people like to hear things that sounds good, not loud. But the same way that some people really love rap and hip-hop, I just happen to be on the opposite end of the spectrum and i just love blast beats, breakdowns, solos, slams, 2-steps, and everything else you can think of. So dont try to offend me by saying, "oh that stuff sucks. it sounds like noise." im gonna get mad.

Now i get to my second point. I would love to have a band and be able to play shows like we did back in high school. We had a shit ton of fun and tore shit up on stage. But, for some odd reason, there arent people that know how to play very well. And if there is, im must be looking in the wrong place. More often than not, i will be talking to someone and i will mention that im trying to find people for a band, and someone will say "ohh! i kno someone who's trying to do that too!" so i take their word for it. and i end up regretting that terribly. The past 3 times ive tried to make a band, it has come out like an As I Lay Dying cover band, more or less. Just very boring and totally sounds like everything ive already heard a million times before.

So now its time to take control. Im taking a different approach to finding people for a band. Hopefully i can find a few people. Its also harder because everyone has their own discrepencies when it comes to listening to music. Certain people only like this, while other people only like that, etc... Im trying to make sure that whatever im writing will never sound like anything ive heard before and its hard to come out with a sound that cant be based off of anything else. There's no reference point to judge it from so its a totally new sound that can either be the next best thing, or im gonna get alotttt of hate-mail. lets hope for the best. I'll keep everyone updated on how the band search is going. thanks for reading

Hey guys. So as you see, the name of this blog is "Dylan's Views on..." so i will have to title every blog post with a "...example." If its a topic you feel you are interested in, please feel free to comment.
but anyway, one of my best friends just took a study abroad trip through his school, to Ghana. yea.. i know, thats in freakin africa. he's only there for a few weeks but still. he decided to make a blog following his progress throughout his trip. Im excited to see what he's gonna end up seeing and experiencing, and i only hope that he makes it back in one piece. Have fun bro!

but, since he made a blog, i felt compelled to make one myself. Not nearly as exciting since im not going to africa or anywhere else really interesting, but its mostly just for me. just a place for me to gather thoughts, pictures, comments, videos, and just useless garbage. So far, thoroughly excited.
